Trace design with mark be gone pen,
this becomes your stitching lines.
here are the techniques to get the look needed for each stitches.

To backstitch pull your needle up from the back of your fabric
then space over a bit then take it down, space underneath,
then come up and continue this to make a solid line of stitching

A running stitch has spaces between them like a broken line.
Start by pulling your needle up from the back of your fabric
then take your needle down through the fabric
then space over a bit then up, then down, leaving spaces between stitches.

A satin stitch is use to fill in an area with a solid color.
Start by pulling your needle up from the back of your fabric.
go from side to side of your pattern that needs to be filled in with thread
going down and up down and up to make a continuous color of lines.

French knots are used to add deminsion and character to a sampler.
Start by pulling your needle up from the back of your fabric
wrap the thread two times around your needle
then insert it back down into the fabric pretty close to where you came up
this will create a knot effect.

Blanket stitch is when you pull your needle up from the bottom
and go over the top to make an edging of thread to be seen on both sides.

Cross Stitch is just an X
take your needle from the back of the fabric up to the top
cross over, then go back down then up again from the back
crossing over to complete the X.
