Needle Punching is an old needle art
from the late 1800’s
also known as Russian Needle Work.
Old cloth tightened in a sewing hoop would then begin
to transform into tiny little rugs by loops of thread.
With a tiny threaded needle tool they would punch the needle into the cloth
to create small loops on the backside of the fabric.
Finished works would then be displayed around their homes to add color.
Today crafters needle punch to create
wonderful little accents to adorn their homes.
They are perfect in frames, attached to wooden boards,
added as accessories on baskets, pins, purses etc.

If you are learning to needle punch
you will first have to decide which type of needle
you wish to purchase there are tons out there on the market.
Some of my favorites are the Cameo Ultra Punch Needle, and the Super Luxo Russian needle
which is a sturdy metal one with different tips.
Weavers cloth is the fabric of choice for this craft.
It is sturdier and holds the loops taught.
