Painting can be soo much fun.

(here I painted on an old cabinet door)
primitive painting is very simple and easy to do.
first you must decide what it is you wish to paint your design on.
once you have done that the rest is pretty simple.
trace your pattern onto your painted item.
tracing paper works great or just scribble with a pencil on the back of your design and trace over it this wll create a light pencil sketch to color in.

this painting was done on a piece of wood
and a dremel tool to outline the edges for a more primitive effect.

I only use Deco-Art Paints because
I believe they are the best acryics around.
Literally one coat gets it great.
Here are some basic colors that I use for my primitive wares.
Buttermilk DA3: great for snowmen
Mink Tan DA92: great for doll faces & rabbits
Milk Chocolate DA174: anything wooden or brown
Rockwood Red DA97: perfect burgundy color for Annie noses & cheeks
Antique Mauve DA162: great rose color for spring
Lamp Black DA67: need I say more Crows.
Antique Gold DA9: great for stars, jingle bells
Terra Cotta DA62: Snowmen noses & pumpkins
Deep Midnight Blue DA166: Americana Wares
Admiral Blue DA213: yellow ware or a country blue
Avocado DA052: prefect prim green for Trees and such
Driftwood DA171: buckets and pails.

Brushes

I only use the following Loew-Cornell Brushes.
My favorites are
Series 4550: 0,1, (basecoat)
series 4350 0,2 (for finer details)
series 4000 0, 1 (for detailing)
Series 4300: 1, 4 (for perfect straight lines)
Series 225: ½, 3/8 ( for dry brushing large areas)
Series 226: ¼ (for dry brushing smaller areas)
and if you like comfort try their new line with grippers, they are so comfy.
Taklon 5 pc Set #4928. Line 18/0, Round 0, Shader 6, Wash ¾.
If you are paintin on fabric I suggest
Loew-Cornell, Series 225: ½ , ¼ (to fill in majority of the coloring)
Loew-Cornell, Series 224: ¼, ½
(For those tight areas or side by the stitches)
Loew-Cornel, Series 227: 0, 2 (for the details)
