GraphNiques

If you are wanting to learn to do basic type graphics well here is the place to be.

I am a self taught graphic artist and this is how I figured out how to create the graphics you see all around my site.

*****************************

You will need Paint Shop Pro 6 program, Ebay is a great place to get it now days or you can download it for free by clicking on the link below

http://www.baycongroup.com/paint_shop_pro/p01_download.htm

Draw imagine on white paper with black permanent marker.

scan drawing into computer with 300dpi.

create graphic folder under my documents: save scanned drawings in graphic folder.

ex of twigs design in black ink scanned into computer

Open up your paint shop pro 6 program.
file,
Open,
Then find the folder where the doodles are saved then open the one you want to work on.

View (top of screen, near file)
Normal viewing (this will make it the size that it would be to see it when printed)

Colors (up near view and file)
Then click on decrease color depth
Then click on the 2 colors ( if it is not clickable then it is already down to 2 count.)

Then go to image
Resize
Make sure the dot is checked for ACTUAL PRINT SIZE.
Then change the number of ressoultion to 300
And then make the size approx. 5.0 (top number)
If it makes it so tiny you cant see it then increase the number.

Edit (next to file)
Copy

Then go to start
Programs,
Accessories
Paint (regular paint that your little ones love to play and color in)

The hit control and v to paste the doodle into the paint program.

Before you begin coloring, click on the eraser and erase any little dots that the scanner might have accidently picked up that arent necessary.

Look over all the lines on the drawings and make sure that there are no broken spots where they meet another line. If there is a broken spot, take the pencil and fill it in with black to connect the dots. When you go to paint with your paint bucket it will paint everything that is not separated with a solid line.

Then click on colors
Edit colors
Define colors
Then it will say Red Green Blue the numbers I list below will be the numbers for R G B (Red, Green Blue)
Put these numbers in and whalla it makes the color I want things to be. Then hit add to custom colors, then hit ok
It makes the paint can the color you want.

Tip: if you click on the magic want on the tool bar to the left , then click on a color you already doodled it turns the paint bucket into the color you put the magic wand on. So ex: say you colored in an annie nose burgundy and you forgot to color in her hair, but you already colored her dress green, take the wand, click on the burgundy color, and whalla the paint can is now burgundy.

Tip; enlarge with magnifying glass to make doodle big if you see any white spots that need to be filled in.
